Kelantan expected to dissolve state assembly this week

KOTA BARU: Kelantan is expected to announce the dissolution date of the state assembly this week, to pave way for the state polls.

Astro Awani quoted Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob as saying that the date of dissolution is expected to be made after the weekly state exco meeting on Wednesday.

"Insya-Allah, let's wait for the state exco meeting this week,” he said.

His deputy Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the dissolution date will be announced by the Mentri Besar this week.

“Please wait,” he said.

Kelantan has 45 state seats of which seven are held by Umno reps, one from Bersatu and the remaining from PAS.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had said that Perikatan Nasional’s seat negotiations are almost completed.

The term for Kelantan’s state assembly will expire on June 28.
