Ex-cop escapes gallows, gets 10 years' jail for causing stepdaughter's death


PUTRAJAYA: A former policeman escaped the gallows and has been sentenced to 10 years in jail after the Court of Appeal overturned his conviction for murdering his two-year-old stepdaughter Hanis Amanda Mohd Zafil in 2015.

The panel of judges, consisting of Justices Datuk Seri Kamaludin Md Said, Datuk Hashim Hamzah and Datuk Azman Abdullah substituted it with a conviction for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
