OCPD held in Pahang over RM1mil bribery

KUALA LUMPUR: A district police chief in Pahang has been arrested by graft busters for allegedly accepting more than RM1mil in bribes in return for protection for entertainment outlets and massage parlours.

Sources said the 53-year-old policeman was arrested yesterday.

The OCPD was suspected of receiving more than RM1mil from 2017 until last year.

“The bribes were in exchange for ensuring that unlicensed entertainment outlets and massage parlours in the district did not face action by authorities,” the source said.

Pahang Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Hairuzam Amin confirmed the arrest.

“We are investigating under Section 16(a) of the MACC Act 2009,” he said.
