KUALA LUMPUR: Umno members need to put a stop to playing the blame game, especially against other leaders in the unity government, says Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
The party secretary-general was referring to comments by Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi, who allegedly accused Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli of underperforming.
Asyraf said there was no point for Umno leaders launching attacks against their peers in the administration or shooting their own feet to please certain quarters of the society.
“We have to understand that when we formed the government, it was a collective responsibility.
“It has never been a one-man show so we have to put a stop to the blame game,” he said during a press conference on the 2023 Umno General Assembly at Menara Dato Onn, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Friday (June 2).
Asyraf added that Umno leaders should instead maintain their focus to ensure the country can move forward for the well-being of the people.
On Wednesday (May 31), Puad wrote on his Facebook page that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had to dispel rumours that there will be a Cabinet reshuffle because of Rafizi’s “poor performance” as the Economy Minister.
Puad also asked what better solutions had been offered by Rafizi to improve the economy, citing there were none that were as effective as the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) during Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s administration.
