Hot weather a boon for vehicle tint shops

KOTA BARU: The hot and scorching weather that has hit Kelantan over the past few months has turned out to be a blessing in disguise for operators of heat rejection tint film shops.

A car accessories store owner Mohammad Saiful Abdul Kadir, 46, told Bernama that requests to install tinted windows on vehicles have doubled due to the current hot weather.

He said usually, the installation of tinted windows for a car could be completed between 45 minutes and two and a half hours, depending on the size of the car and the type of tint.

An employee at another shop, Muhd Ihtisham Izuddin, 22, said he and his four colleagues were usually short of manpower when it came to completing customer orders.

“The number of vehicles that want to install tinted windows can reach between seven and 10 vehicles per day,” he said.

Kelantan Road Transport Department director Mohd Misuari Abdullah said although the installation of tinted windows has been relaxed, he reminded the public to remain compliant with the fixed specifications to avoid being fined.

“We do not stop people from installing tinted windows. However, they must follow the Visible Light Transmission (VLT) requirement,” he said.
