SHAH ALAM: A total of 21 Shah Alam PKR committee members, including several women's wing leaders, have announced their immediate resignation from the party.
In a statement on Monday (May 25), they said the decision was made due to a loss of confidence in the party's top leadership and Shah Alam PKR chief Najwan Halimi, reported Sinar Harian.
"We are disappointed with Najwan's leadership, which we see as having failed to practise the principles of consultation and togetherness in decision-making," read the statement.
They added that although they were elected through party elections, they were not consulted or involved in several key decisions, including political appointments and division matters.
They alleged that some decisions were made without any official discussion with elected committee members.
This was despite the party constitution providing for consultative processes and respect for leadership mandates.
"We believe a political party must uphold the values of reform and democracy… Unfortunately, we no longer see this.
They added that their struggle for the people and the country would continue despite leaving the party.
The statement included a list of 21 names from the Shah Alam PKR committee and women's wing leaders.
