Lorry driver held for driving high

PETALING JAYA: A lorry driver who is alleged to have driven in a reckless manner on the Federal Highway has been remanded.

He is believed to have been high on methamphetamines and his lorry nearly collided with other vehicles.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Majid said the lorry driver was arrested on Friday in Meru, Klang.

“We initially came across a video on the incident on social media on the same day and started investigations.

“The video showed a trailer truck being driven recklessly and weaving through traffic.

“The lorry is also seen coming to a complete halt and blocking traffic along the Federal Highway and the exit to the Subang toll plaza,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said investigations revealed the incident occurred at around 5pm on Thursday.

The lorry driver, he said, had been remanded until May 30 to help with further investigations.

He said police had classified the case as reckless driving and consumption of dangerous drugs.
