Supervisor claims trial to selling nonexistent land parcels


ALOR GAJAH: A 41-year-old supervisor of a waste management company has claimed trial to six counts of cheating amounting to RM98,151 over the sale of nonexistent land parcels.

S. Sevasangar entered the plea of not guilty before Magistrate Nurul Bahiyah Kamaluddin here on Wednesday (May 24).

Based on the facts of the case, the accused allegedly tricked six individuals, including a retiree, lorry driver, wireman and two of his colleagues, by offering to sell the land parcels here and in Jasin.

The sales offer made the six individuals, aged 34 to 53, pay between RM2,051 and RM33,120 in stages.

The offences were allegedly committed at Taman Pengkalan Indah and at a shop in Pengkalan here between May last year and March.

The charges, framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, carry a maximum of 10 years' jail, whipping and a fine upon conviction.

Sharina Farhana Nor Sa'ari prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented.

The court granted bail of RM28,000 for all the charges and fixed June 23 for next mention.
