Tawau cops nab three suspects, seize RM57k worth of syabu


KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested two men and a woman and seized 753.73g of syabu worth RM57,000 in Tawau last week.

Tawau district police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the three suspects, aged from 30 to 36, were detained on Friday (May 19) at 1.30pm and were remanded for seven days.

The team from the district narcotics crime investigation department acted on intelligence received and apprehended the suspects on Jalan Perdana Jaya, Batu 3, he said in a statement here on Tuesday (May 23).

"One suspect is a local while the other two did not possess valid identity documentation," he said.

He said the drugs were found on them, wrapped in 15 plastic bags.

He said all three suspects tested negative for drug use did not have past criminal records.

"The case is being investigated under Section 39(b) of Dangerous Drugs Act (for trafficking in dangerous drugs)," he said, adding that police were actively tracing any remaining individuals involved in the drug trafficking network.
