SEREMBAN: Perikatan Nasional leaders are free to make any claim they want about winning the state polls in Selangor and Negri Sembilan, says PKR vice president Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

The Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar said some politicians would make claims which had no substance or basis.

"Some tend to make statements at their whim and fancy just for the sake of it.

"We know the Malays in Negri Sembilan and we are confident they will support the unity government because of our track record," he said when met at a Hari Raya do here on Wednesday (May 17).

Selangor Bersatu chairman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari had said there may be a Malay tsunami in the two states.

Abdul Rashid said Malay voters in the two states are also likely to support Perikatan as evident in the north and east coast states in GE15.

Perikatan election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor had also previously said the coalition was confident of capturing the two states as it had made thorough preparations.

Aminuddin said Malay voters were not easily influenced and would surely look at the government's performance before casting their ballot.

He said the parliamentary results of GE15 in the state also showed Pakatan Harapan doing well in the state seats.

“Although only parliamentary elections were held, we did well in the state constituencies and that is an indication of what is to come.

"The people can evaluate the performance of the unity government since the last general election and see ... what has been done to improve the wellbeing of the people and strengthen the economy," he said, adding that his administration had also run Negri Sembilan with integrity.

Separately, Aminuddin said talks on seats between state Pakatan and Barisan Nasional should be finalised in a fortnight.

"Our talks have been centred on status quo, meaning that the winners in the last state election will be given the mandate to defend the seats.

"Looks like there is not much to be discussed in Negri Sembilan," he said.

In the last state election in 2018, Pakatan won 20 of the 36 state seats. Barisan won the remaining 16.

On another matter, Aminuddin said the state government has uncovered some irregularities in land-related matters in the state.

This had caused the state government to lose revenue, he added.

"This is still being probed and I will give you more details next week as the public needs to know," he added.
