SEREMBAN: The dissolution date of the Negri Sembilan legislative assembly will be announced at the end of June, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

The Mentri Besar said July 1 may be the last day for the current state administration.

"We have also sought the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz for this," he said when met at a ceremony to rename Jalan Sikamat to Jalan Datuk Sheikh Mohd Murtadza.

Pakatan Harapan won 20 of the 36 seats in the last state elections in 2018. Barisan Nasional won the remaining 16.

It was the first time that Barisan was defeated in the state polls.

The state's first assembly session after the polls was on July 2. This means, the term of the current state administration automatically ends on July 1.

State elections are due to be held in Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Aminuddin said the leaders of the six states had also during a recent meeting agreed to dissolve their respective assemblies within a month.

"It won't be on the same day but should be within the same month, God willing.

"Some may dissolve their respective assemblies either in early June, end of June or early July," he said.
