PORT DICKSON: The Negri Sembilan state by-election will be a tight race as it would all boil down to fence-sitters and outstation voters, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
“If we look at the previous results, there were marginal victories.
"We have to be rational. Everything is decided by the rakyat. That is why we present our report card for the people to evaluate," says the state Pakatan Harapan chairman.
He also said that the "blue wave" from Barisan Nasional's sweeping win at the Johor polls is gradually changing as the Negri Sembilan polling day approaches.
Amminuddin said voter sentiment towards the coalition had improved, particularly among the youth.
"All these (Barisan's) narratives do not resonate among the majority of voters, especially the youth.
"Outstation voters too are not confined by narratives on racial politics.
"We can also see the rakyat beginning to understand why the state election was called," he said on Thursday (July 30).
The "blue wave" refers to Barisan's landslide victory at the recent Johor polls where the coalition won 48 out of 56 seats.
Aminuddin also said he is expecting at least a 70% voter turnout, urging outstation voters to return home and exercise their right.
"They may be working elsewhere, but their families may still be here. We (Pakatan) are also working hard to create more job opportunities within the state so that they can return to their homes and earn a living.
"Giving Pakatan another mandate also allows us to continue where we left off," said Aminuddin, who is the caretaker Mentri Besar.
Aminuddin is in a three-cornered contest for the Linggi seat.
He is up against Barisan's Datuk Mohd Faizal Zamli and Bersatu's Datuk Zamri Md Said.
