State polls: ‘I’m not a spectator', says Noh who will contest under Perikatan

KLANG: Former Selangor Umno chief Tan Sri Noh Omar will contest in the upcoming state election under the Perikatan Nasional ticket.

"I am not a spectator and I have to be involved in political contests.

"If my old team had kicked me out after I had served 30 years, I am not going to just be cheering (on the sidelines)," said the former Tanjong Karang MP at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri event in Shah Alam Sunday (April 30).

Noh had initially been suspended for six years from Umno but he had asked to be sacked instead during the party’s supreme council meeting on Jan 27.

He was suspended for allegedly aiding Perikatan in the 15th General Election.

The 65-year-old former Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative minister said he would be finding a new team for himself.

It is yet to be known whether Noh would be joining PAS or Bersatu, which were the two main parties in Perikatan.

Between the two, PAS appeared to be stronger even though both parties (Bersatu and PAS) had three parliamentary seats each in Selangor.

Noh, who was regarded as a powerful political warlord in Selangor, was unceremoniously dropped as a candidate in the last general election for the Tanjong Karang parliamentary seat.

He was replaced by the Tanjong Karang Umno division chief Datuk Habibah Mohd Yusof who lost to Bersatu's Datuk Zulkafperi Hanapi.
