Buddhists pray for police force and nation

KUALA LUMPUR: A prayer service was held at the Buddhist Maha Vihara Temple here to pray for the police force and country in conjunction with the 216th Police Day this year.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (Operations) deputy director Comm Khaw Kok Chin attended the prayers at the temple in Brickfields here on Friday (April 28).

The service, also attended by over 250 Buddhist personnel, trainees, volunteers and retirees from the force, was led by Chief High Priest of Malaysia Datuk K Sri Dhammaratana Nayake Maha Thera.

In his speech read by Comm Khaw, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said he appreciated the effort of the Police Buddhist Religious Committee as well as the attendees.

"We are lucky and proud to be Malaysians because we can live peacefully and prosperously amid diversity of ethnicity and religion.

"This ceremony is proof that even though we are from different religions, we are still united under the umbrella of unity.

"So for that, let's all pray that the blessing of prosperity and peace that we enjoy will always remain preserved," he said.

Prayer sessions were also organised by Christian and Hindu personnel the same day.

The IGP urged all to pray that God will always protect the members of the police force as long as they are on duty to maintain the safety and security of the country.
