PASIR GUDANG: A 20-year-old woman was killed and two other people were injured in a car crash at Jalan Masai-Kong Kong here.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Sohaimi Ishak said the incident occurred at 9.45pm on Monday (April 24) when the victim was heading towards Taman Cendana from Jalan Seri Alam.

“The victim, identified as Siti Nadiah Ab Gafar, was the front passenger in a car driven by a 24-year-old man.

“The driver is believed to have lost control of his vehicle and driven into the opposite lane and collided with another car driven by a 19-year-old man,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 25).

Siti Nadiah suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene, while her driver suffered leg injuries, he added.

The driver of the second vehicle also suffered injuries to both legs and his right arm.

Both drivers are being treated at Hospital Sultan Ismail.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act of 1987, Supt Sohaimi added.

Meanwhile, Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Sharol Suboh said the 19-year-old driver was flung out of his vehicle while Siti Nadiah and her driver were pinned in their car.

“We managed to free the victims using rescue tools," he said, adding that a team of 10 was deployed to conduct the rescue operation.
