Body of nine-year-old boy from capsized boat incident in Sapulut found


The body of the nine-year-old boy who was involved in a capsized boat incident in Sapulut, was found on the third day of SAR operation on Thursday (April 13).

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a nine-year-old boy who was involved in a capsized boat incident with his family in Sapulut, was found on the third day of the Search and Rescue Operation (SAR) on Thursday (April 13).

"The third day SAR operation with agencies and villagers started at 8.31am, where search was done from Salung jetty all the way to Kampung Pagalungan.

"The victim's body was found by villagers at 4.30pm, about 15km from where the boat has capsized.

"The remains have been handed over to the police for further actions, and the search will resume tomorrow (April 14)," said the Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.

Still missing are the seven-year-old girl, and a 38-year-old man who fell into the river when he participated in the SAR operation on the second day.

Previously, it was reported that the 36-year-old father and the five-year-old son were able to get to safety when the boat capsized at Sungai Penawan, Kampung Sinsingon on Tuesday (April 11), while the 26-year-old mother’s body was found on the same day.
