Two Ipoh teens die after their motorcycle hits tanker


IPOH: Two teenage girls were killed after the motorcycle they were on crashed into a tanker at KM121 northbound of Jalan Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur near Kampung Kelawar in Tanjung Malim.

Muallim OCPD Superintendent Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said the victims were identified as Mimi Nurwaheeda and Nur Nabila, both 19, from Taman Danau Kampung Hassan, Hulu Bernam and Angsana Flats, Subang Jaya, Selangor respectively.

Supt Mohd Hasni said Mimi Nurwaheeda died on the spot while Nur Nabila, who was riding pillion, died at the Slim River Hospital following the incident on Wednesday (Mar 29) at about 11.20pm.

"Initial investigations found that both victims were heading towards Slim River from Ulu Bernam.

"They were believed to have crashed into an tanker that was making a U-turn," he said in a statement.

"Mimi Nurwaheeda was ran over by the tanker during the incident and died on the spot while Nur Nabila died while being treated at the hospital," he said.

Supt Mohd Hasni said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving causing death.

"The police are now trying to locate the tanker involved," he added.
