Floods: 100 villagers and campers trapped in Muallim

IPOH: About 100 people in Kampung Simpang 4 Dalam, Muallim, are trapped after a flash flood hit the village.

A Civil Defence Department spokesman said those trapped on Monday (Sept 15) included villagers and campers in a nearby recreation site following two hours of heavy rainfall.

"We received a call from the village chief at 8.20am.

"We mobilised a team to conduct risk assessment and monitor the situation.

"The water level was about 1.5m high, due to overflow from a nearby river," he said, adding that the road to the village has also been cut off.

"The water has started to recede, and no temporary shelter had to be opened," he said.
