PUTRAJAYA: In conjunction with Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities, AEON Co (M) Bhd has launched the Rahmah Raya AEON as part of the Payung Rahmah programme to help people cope with the rising cost of living while stimulating the country's economy.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said having a big name such as AEON under Payung Rahmah was a clear sign of the programme's continued success.

"This is another positive news for the people who are burdened with rising cost of living.

"We are touched and thankful for the commitment and contributions made by industry players under this initiative.

"Almost all hypermarkets have joined the programme, and moving forward, we will be seeing those from the banking, insurance and even manufacturing sectors also coming forward," he told the press after launching the Rahmah Raya held at AEON Putrajaya, which was AEON's 35th premises, here Monday (March 6).

Also present at the launch were Deputy Minister Fuziah Salleh and AEON chairman Datuk Iskandar Sarudin.

Rahmah Raya AEON was one of the initiatives in their ecosystem especially for Ramadan and Hari Raya preparations.

Through this programme, under Jualan Rahmah, AEON would offer 30 selected products that are sold at a lower price to ease the burden of customers.

In addition, AEON would also provide Menu Rahmah priced at RM4.90, and with the upcoming Ramadan and Aidilfitri celebrations, AEON and AEON BiG would also donate Bakul Rahmah at all 35 AEON branches and 21 AEON BiG branches.

This donation amounting to RM168,000 consisted of daily necessities as well as Ramadan and Aidilfitri preparations and would be delivered to 1,140 B40 families and the poor for three months.

AEON managing director Keiji Ono said they were always ready to support the government's mission to help the needy as they welcome the Payung Rahmah initiative.

"We are grateful that through this programme, we will be able to carry out the government's initiative while helping the B40 and the poor continue with their daily lives.

"In any situation, we are always ready to move together in ensuring the economic and social conditions are always balanced.

"The B40 and extreme poor are also part of our ecosystem and it is our responsibility to ensure AEON is always close to their hearts,” he added.
