FANS are shocked by the news that anisong (anime song) singer Maon Kurosaki succumbed to a long-term chronic illness last month, as reported by Sin Chew Daily.

The 35-year-old, best known for performing the ending themes to Highschool Of The Dead and A Certain Magical Index II, died on Feb 16, according to Kurosaki’s agency, Art One Entertainment.

In September 2021, Kurosaki collapsed during a livestream concert and underwent emergency surgery for an epidural hematoma – a condition in which a mass of blood forms in the space between the skull and the protective covering of the brain.

The agency explained that Kurosaki’s family had requested a private funeral, hence the delay in the announcement of her death until Feb 28.

It added that Kurosaki’s death came as a shock as they were in the midst of discussing her future, including her summer schedule, the release of her own movie and new songs.

Many fans took to social media to mourn the singer’s passing.

Born in Tokyo in January 1988, Kurosaki began working and performing at the Dear Stage bar in Akihabara and was scouted by music producer Akihiro Tomita.

She subsequently made her major label debut with the album HOTD, released under Geneon Universal Entertainment (now NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan).

> Hong Kong actress-turned-singer Jacqueline Wong’s ex-boyfriend, Kenneth Ma, is now wishing her all the best in her new career, according to Sin Chew Daily.

“Jia you (go for it), work hard and good luck,” Ma said during a press conference promoting his new TV series Invisible Clan.

Wong made a career transition to music on Feb 14 by releasing a new music video entitled Crown Me.

This was after a three-year hiatus following her cheating scandal with singer Andy Hui in 2019. Wong was then dating Ma.

After breaking up with Wong in 2019, Ma began dating actress Roxanne Tong, and the two announced their engagement in January.
