Sabah Immigration deports 492 Filipinos via Sandakan Port


KOTA KINABALU: Some 492 Filipinos have been deported back to the Philippines via Sandakan Port on Tuesday (Feb 28).

They were sent back as part of the Sabah Immigration Department's illegals deportation programme series 4 aboard the MV Antonia 1 ferry bound for Zamboanga City Port, said Sabah Immigration director Datuk SH Sitti Saleha Habib Yusoff in a statement here on Wednesday (March 1).

She said this group of deportees involved those held at Immigration depots in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau.

"Those held at these depots have committed various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.

"They comprised 368 men, 88 women and 36 minors aged 12 and below. They were accompanied by their parents or guardians," she added.
