JOHOR BARU: A landslide occurred at Felda Sungai Sayong, Bukit Besar, in Kota Tinggi early Wednesday (March 1) following continuous heavy rain since Tuesday (Feb 28) morning.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said no injuries were reported in the 8.30am incident, which occurred behind the premises of four shop lots, thus affecting their structures.

"The premises are located about 5m from the slope area,” he said in a statement Wednesday night.

He also warned the public not to play in the floodwaters and reminded parents to monitor the safety and whereabouts of their children at all times.

"Motorists are also advised to always be careful when driving, especially at night, by obeying the warning signs and detours placed in flood-hit areas,” he said.

So far, four roads in the district are still closed to all vehicles, namely Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang (Arked Mara), Jalan Tun Sri Lanang (Bandar Kota Tinggi), Jalan Kampung Kelantan/Kampung Panti and Jalan Mawai Lama (Rumah Burung).

Meanwhile, Jalan Sungai Sayong (Loji Sayong) is closed to all light vehicles due to the strong current, he added. - Bernama
