Valentine's Day: 28 couples tie the knot at Penang Chinese Town Hall

GEORGE TOWN: A total of 28 couples tied the knot on Valentine's Day at Penang Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) here.

Dressed in their glittering dresses and shirts, the lovebirds came in stages to take their oaths of marriage, with some waiting at the hall from as early as 8am.

More than a hundred family members and friends were present for the unique Valentine’s Day event.

At about 9am, Penang Chinese Town Hall registrar Ooi Beng Geh and deputy registrar Lim Choo Hooi began the solemnisation ceremony for the couples one by one.

Lim said the response for the programme was good.

"It is quite good especially after Chinese New Year and after the pandemic," he said.

He said there were many couples who sought out PCTH to register their marriage, but it could only receive 28 couples on Tueday (Feb 14).

He said he expected to see more couples register their marriages at the next mass wedding on May 20 (520).
