Penang Chinese Town Hall holds AGM in refurbished Ping Zhang Hall

THE PENANG Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) has held its annual general meeting in its newly refurbished Ping Zhang Hall.

The AGM held on Sunday (June 21) was attended by about 200 members.

During the meeting, PCTH chairman Tan Sri Prof Tan Khoon Hai introduced the newly upgraded Ping Zhang Hall, which has undergone extensive renovation and modernisation.

"It features a spacious and comfortable environment, together with professional sound, lighting and LED systems, Ping Zhang Hall is an ideal venue for corporate dinners, association celebrations, anniversary events, charity functions and various gatherings.

Tan also announced that PCTH would jointly organise the 2026 China-Asean Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Forum in Penang this November with business and technology organisations from China and Asean countries.

"Penang, widely known as the Silicon Valley of the East, is Malaysia's hub for the electrical and electronics industry and has a strong foundation for the development of AI-related industries.

"The forum will bring together experts, business leaders and industry representatives from across the region to discuss cutting-edge AI technologies, industrial applications and cross-border practical cooperation," he said.

Tan said the forum would serve as a high-level platform for regional technological exchange and encouraged members with relevant expertise to participate and help strengthen Penang's role in regional AI cooperation.
