Cops arrest 40-year-old, seize drugs worth worth over RM120,000


IPOH: Police here arrested a 40-year-old man and seized about RM123,000 worth of drugs in a raid on a house in Sitiawan, says Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

He said the unemployed man was arrested in a house in Sitiawan, Manjung during a 2.30am raid on Sunday (Feb 13).

Comm Mohd Yusri said that the man was found with 3.45kg of heroin and 0.44g of ganja. The drugs are estimated to be valued at RM122,750.

“Based on our initial investigation, the individual has been an active drug dealer since 2021 and the drugs we seized were for the local market and can be used by about 9,000 drug users,” he said in a statement today (Feb 14).

Comm Mohd Yusri added that the police also seized three vehicles during the raid, worth nearly RM98,000.

“The man also has eight prior records and tested positive for morphine. He is now under remand for seven days from Feb 13 to 19,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
