Man claims trial for throwing Molotov cocktail at bank


SIBU: A man was released on a bail of RM8,000 with two sureties after he pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate's Court on Monday (Feb 13) to a charge of causing mischief.

Kuo Tai Tak, 36, was charged under Section 4 of the Corrosion and Explosives and Armed Weapons Act 1958 for throwing a Molotov cocktail onto the front door of a bank in Jalan Kampung Nyabor at 9pm on Feb 8, an act that caused a small explosion.

The section carries a prison sentence of up to seven years and whipping, if convicted.

Magistrate Oon Kork Chern set March 17 for case management.

He also ordered the accused to report to the case investigating officer every 14 days of the month until the case is concluded.
