Fatal attraction: Dead man in lake was murdered by lover's boyfriend, say cops


SEPANG: The man who was brutally slashed to death and dumped in a lake at Cyberjaya was having an affair with his friend's lover.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said investigations revealed that word had got out that the victim was having an affair with the woman.

"We believe this is the motive for the murder," he said when contacted on Monday (Feb 13).

He said police have arrested three men in connection with the murder.

"On Sunday at around 8pm, we arrested two men aged 23 and 41 near the TNB substation at Kampung Sri Aman, Puchong.

"The younger suspect is a Malaysian while the other suspect is an Indian national.

"About four hours later we went to a cow pen and seized a machete," he said, adding that police then arrested another Indian national, aged 52, following a raid at Taman Puchong Prima.

He said investigations found that the victim was having an affair with the 23-year-old suspect's girlfriend.

It was reported that the body of a man who had been slashed to death was found in a lake near Cyberjaya.

Police were alerted at around 10.15pm on Saturday (Feb 11) by a man who reported finding a body floating in the lake behind the Masjid Raja Haji Fisabilillah Cyberjaya.

A witness said he was out fishing at around 8pm at the lake when he noticed a vehicle in the water.

He went to inspect it and found an object looking like a human body in the lake, and called the police.

A forensics team went to the scene and found at least five slash wounds on the victim's body.

They also found a Toyota Hilux in the lake bearing the licence plate WNY5447. The victim was a 43-year-old man.
