Covid-19 Watch: 189 new cases, says Health Ministry

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 189 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday (Feb 8), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its KKMNow portal on Thursday ( Feb 9) that this brings the new total to 5,038,543 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 189, one is an imported case and the remaining 188 are local.

The ministry also said through its KKMNow portal that there were 279 recoveries on Wednesday bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 9,892 .

Of the active cases, 96.3% or 9,530 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 3.6% of active cases or 355 individuals need to be hospitalised, with seven warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Out of the seven, four require ventilator support.
