A GROOM had to take a boat to his bride’s house on Sunday due to floods, Harian Metro reported.
The groom, known only as Asyraf, and his family were helped by the Civil Defence Force (APM) after Jalan Sungai Relai 8 in Kampung Sempadan in Jerantut, Pahang, was submerged in 1.5m of water.
Kampung Sempadan village development and security committee chairman Jamsuri Salamen said the water rose following non-stop heavy rain.
“We requested the help of the Civil Defence Force to transport the bridegroom and guests across the flooded area.
“The reception was not affected and took place smoothly with their help,” he added.
Jerantut district APM officer Capt (PA) Muszaidi Musa said they received the call for assistance on Saturday.
He said the APM assisted the groom and bride as well as their family members to cross the flooded area.
“A total of 10 officers and a fibreglass boat was mobilised to provide assistance at the scene,” he said.

It said the carcass of the animal was found by a hotel employee, who then contacted the Port Dickson Ornamental Fish Centre to inspect the carcass of the female turtle.
The department said it is highly likely that the turtle had already been dead for several days before it washed up on Pantai Purnama, Utusan Malaysia reported.
The turtle weighed about 70kg and did not show any sign of critical wounds.
Data on the animal was recorded before the carcass was buried in the beach area.
“We extend our appreciation to the hotel management for contacting the department to take appropriate follow-up action,” it added.
There are four types of turtles commonly found in the country, namely belimbing, agar, kara and lipas.
Under Section 27 of the Fisheries Act 1985, these animals must not be fished, disturbed, teased, captured or taken.
