KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced the suspension of its online vehicle ownership transfer service effective Monday (May 25).
The suspension encompasses all digital channels, including the public portal, kiosks, and JPJ business partners MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the immediate measure follows complaints regarding vehicle ownership being changed without the knowledge of registered owners.
"JPJ views the matter seriously, especially those involving maintenance and the safety record of vehicles registered in the department's system," he said in a statement Sunday (May 24).
Beginning Monday, all vehicle ownership changes for individuals and private companies must be conducted at JPJ counters.
For individual ownership, transactions can be completed on the same day at state JPJ offices and branches.
For private companies, the confirmation and approval process will take five to seven working days from the date of complete document submission.
Meanwhile, Aedy Fadly said that only transactions under the Temporary Ownership Transfer System (STMS) via eAuto remain operational.
The permanent ownership transfer system through the eSerahan Tukar Milik (eSTM) system has been suspended.
Parties including used car companies wishing to carry out such transactions must now submit applications at state JPJ offices or branches.
