JPJ opens cutting-edge branch office with longer operating hours at TBS

KUALA LUMPUR: A new Road Transport Department (JPJ) branch office has been opened at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) with the goal of increasing accessibility for the public.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said that among the new improvements at the TBS branch was the integration of various digital facilities to improve the quality and speed of service.

This includes self-service kiosks, direct integration with the MyJPJ application, and the use of MyDigital ID.

He said the branch will operate from 8.30am until 10pm every day, seven days a week.

Loke noted that this replaces the nearby Bandar Sri Permaisuri (BSP) JPJ branch permanently for the benefit of nearby residents and motorists living in the area.

"With daily attendance reaching 1,300 customers, the BSP office faced space constraints, limited facilities and increasing demand for JPJ services, making it no longer conducive for customers," he said at the opening ceremony of the TBS branch on Monday (June 22).

"For this reason, the opening of this TBS branch is highly significant as it is not merely a new office, but a transformation in the way the government engages with the people.

"Its longer operating hours will give the public more options to conduct their JPJ business at times that suit them without sacrificing their work or family commitments."

He also said the new office is equipped to handle up to 1,700 customers a day.

Asked about concerns that it could affect parking at TBS, Loke said there was more than ample space at the transport hub to support passengers and JPJ customers.

He added that JPJ customers will now also be able to spend waiting time either shopping or having a meal at the various shops and restaurants in TBS while waiting for their queue number to be called.

"The whole reason we decided to move the JPJ outlet here is the frequently heavily underutilised parking at TBS.

"It is also more accessible for the public now thanks to TBS’ direct connection to the Sri Petaling LRT line," he told a press conference after the ceremony.

Loke added that there are also plans to open more JPJ branch offices at other transportation hubs and hotspots around the country, such as the new Terminal Bersepadu Gombak.
