Three charged with making false claims under Penjana Kerjaya 2.0


MELAKA: A company owner and two managers from separate companies here claimed trial to submitting false documents to the Social Security Organisation (Socso) to claim hiring incentives under the Penjana Kerjaya Programme 2.0 amounting to RM146,500.

All three accused were charged before Sessions Court Judge Elesabet Paya Wan on Monday (Jan 16).

The three - Muhammad Hafizi Ab Jamal, 33, Asmida Shahfika Abdul Rahman, 25, and Nurul Ain Shamdudin, 30 - were charged separately to submitting the Hiring Incentive Programme employee verification forms between May 19 to June 18, 2021, at the Melaka Sosco office with attempts to allegedly deceive the body, when in fact the document listed names of individuals who were not new employees of these companies.

Hafizi, who is the manager of Rizky H&I Global, faced two charges of submitting documents for claims totalling RM74,600.

Asmida Shahfika, who owns Roti Warisan Enterprise, faced one charge of submitting claims totalling RM36,900, while Nurul Ain, who is the manager of Zaharain Enterprise, also faced one count of the charge of deceiving the body with false submissions amounting to RM35,900.

The charges were framed under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009, punishable under Section 24(2) of the same Act, which carries a maximum imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the amount of the false information or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction.

The court granted bail of RM20,000 to Muhammad Hafizi while RM8,000 each to the two female accused.

The three accused were also ordered to report to the nearest MACC office every month until the disposal of their cases.

The court fixed Feb 16 as the next mention date.

Asmida Shahfika and Nurul Ain were represented by counsel Hafizah Sani while Muhammad Hafizi was unrepresented.
