Lembah Subang man detained for assaulting, threatening daughter

PETALING JAYA: A 56-year-old man has been detained for allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill his teenage daughter due to a spat over mobile phone use at their home in Lembah Subang.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the 15-year-old victim lodged a police report against her father at about 1.18pm on Friday (Jan 13).

"The initial investigation revealed that the suspect had hit his daughter using a belt and threatened to kill her while holding a meat cutter.

"We believe the suspect was angry after he discovered that his daughter was still playing with her phone until late at night," he said when contacted on Sunday (Jan 15).

The suspect was detained at about 10.30pm on Jan 13, he said.

"We also seized the 13-inch meat cutter used to threaten the victim. The suspect has been remanded until Tuesday (Jan 17)," he added.

The case is classified under Section 3(1)(A) of the Child Act 2001.

ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin urged those with information on any criminal activity to contact the Petaling Jaya police's operation room at 03-79662222.
