Commuters stranded during peak hours after MRT glitch

PETALING JAYA: Two malfunctioning trains along the Kajang MRT line saw hundreds of commuters stranded during peak hours on Thursday (Jan 12) evening.

RapidKL said the delay was due to a train that experienced low air pressure at the Tun Razak Exchange station and a separate train later at the Pasar Seni station.

“Feeder trains have been deployed to facilitate commuters travelling along the lines.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused,” it said in a series of tweets on Thursday.

Commuters too lamented the situation saying that it affected their travel plans.

Twitter user @aryanarazi said her plans were ruined due to the breakdown.

User @masfac10 said the alternative feeder train systems were confusing as commuters were requested continuously to switch trains.

Another user @anuaqqq said RapidKL personnel should have informed the delays as soon as possible instead of delaying the announcement.

“The personnel at the station also did not inform us of the situation,” he tweeted.

User @dragonsnphoenix said the situation was unacceptable.

“Our train stopped moving at Pasar Seni and we sat there (in the train) for 15 minutes. We didn't know how long we were going to be stuck.

“Someone cried then the aircond stopped. Luckily no one fainted,” he said.

Earlier this week, a technical glitch along the KL Monorail line also saw operations hampered.

Last November, operations along the Kelana Jaya LRT line were also suspended for a week due to instability in the line’s automatic train control (ATC) system.
