PKR officially kicks out Tian Chua, four others

PETALING JAYA: PKR has officially sacked former vice president Chua Tian Chang (pic) and four others for standing against the party in the 15th General Elections (GE15).

Party disciplinary board chairman Datin Paduka Dr Tan Yee Kew said that the decision to sack the five came following the party's central leadership committee meeting on Saturday (Jan 8) night.

The other four are division leaders Puah Chee Haur from Parit Buntar, M Mohganan from Taiping, Nur Khairunisa Abdullah from Sadong Jaya and Ahmad Tarmizi Ghazali from Gopeng.

Nur Khairunisa stood as a Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) candidate in GE15, while Mohganan stood in Taiping as an independent candidate.

Tarmizi and Puah stood under the Warisan banner in Chenderiang and Keranji, respectively.

"There's no other way of punishment other than sacking," said Tan when contacted.

Tan also said the decision to sack those who stood against the party in GE15 was one that was made when Chua was still the PKR vice president.

"He was aware because he made this decision with other central leadership committee leaders," added Tan.

When contacted, Chua said he would issue a statement soon.

Chua stood as an independent candidate against PKR's P. Prabakaran in the Batu parliament seat which saw a ten-cornered fight in GE15.

However, Chua later lost the contest and failed to keep his deposit.
