Kulai cops nab man found driving while high on drugs and alcohol


KULAI: Police have arrested a 51-year-old man after the vehicle he was driving hit two cars in Taman Sungai Mas here.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said police were notified by the public about a car being driven in a dangerous manner on Jalan Budiman 2 here around 8.15pm on Dec 25.

"The car, driven by the 51-year-old man, had hit two cars parked along the road. Police arrested the suspect at the scene.

"The driver is believed to have been intoxicated and no one was hurt during the incident," he said in a statement here on Monday (Dec 26).

Supt Tok added that the suspect was brought back to the Kulai police headquarters and checks revealed he had a criminal record.

He also said that the suspect was then taken to the Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Kulai Hospital for a blood test.

"The suspect also tested positive for ganja use," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 45 of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
