PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,022 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Nov 27), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 4,986,294 infections since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry's KKMNow portal reported that 2,022 of Saturday's new Covid-19 cases were local transmissions with no imported infections logged.
There were 1,819 recoveries on Sunday. This brings the cumulative number of recoveries in Malaysia to 4,922,435 since the pandemic began.
The portal also reported that there were 27,207 active cases currently in the country, with 25,117, or 92.3%, observing home quarantine.
The KKMNow portal reported that 1,989 patients, or 7.3% of the total, were currently admitted to hospital for treatment. The number of Covid-19 patients warded at intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country stands at 100, with 53 of these patients requiring ventilation support.
The ICU utilisation rate nationwide stood at 67.2%, with 11 states or localities recording ICU usage rates of more than 60%.
Kedah had the highest ICU utilisation rate at 83.3%, followed by Selangor (81.7%), Melaka (78.6%), Kelantan (76.1%), Johor (71.4%), Putrajaya (71.4%), Perak (70.7%), Sabah (67.1%), Pulau Pinang (66.3%) and Negeri Sembilan (65.3%).
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry's GitHub data repository reported that four Covid-19 deaths were reported on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 36,652.
