TANJUNG MALIM: Pakatan Harapan's Chang Lih Kang has successfully defended his Tanjung Malim seat for a second term.
The PKR vice-president secured 25,140 votes (35.5%), with a 3,541-vote majority over his closest rival.
In a surprise twist, former Tualang Sekah state assemblyman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi, who contested under the Perikatan Nasional umbrella, obtained the second most votes with 21,599.
In third place in the six-cornered fight was MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, who received 20,963 votes.
The other three candidates, Dr Amir Hamzah Abdul Rajak (GTA-Iman) obtained 1,032 votes, while Independents Datuk Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi (609) and Mohd Nor Izzat Mohd Johari (328) lost their deposits.
A heavy downpour, which started around 7pm on Saturday (Nov 19), hampered the delivery process and resulted in the late arrival of ballots to the main counting centre.
