KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will take disciplinary action against Kemabong assemblyman Datuk Rubin Balang if it is found that he masterminded his son Riduan's move to contest as an independent in the Tenom seat.
"I will need to get the full report first before any action can be taken against Rubin," said Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also GRS chairman, during a visit to Papar on Saturday (Nov 12).
Riduan, who is contesting as an Independent in Tenom against Barisan Nasional's Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, submitted his application to join Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Malaysia (KDM) to its president Datuk Peter Anthony on Friday (Nov 11).
Hajiji, who is also Sabah Chief Minister, said that Rubin was seen in a photo with his son in a KDM event on Friday.
He was responding to Sabah Barisan's chairman Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin's demand for disciplinary action to be taken against Rubin.
Bung, who is also Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, said Rubin should be sacked from any state-appointed government post.
Sabah Barisan and GRS have worked out a seat-sharing deal for the 25 constituencies in Sabah.
Hajiji said that the matter would be dealt with fairly.
Peter, who was supposed to contest the Tenom a KDM candidate, had his nomination rejected by the returning officer on nomination day.
