GE15: Gerakan's Choong hopes to make it third time lucky in Rasah

SEREMBAN: It may not be easy to wrest the Rasah parliamentary seat from Pakatan Harapan, but Perikatan Nasional's David Choong hopes he will make it on his third try.

Choong, who is Negri Gerakan chief, had unsuccessfully contested in two state elections and said he believed new and young voters will make the difference this time around.

"We all know that it will be a mammoth task to dislodge Pakatan in Rasah.

"We are banking on the younger voters and who knows – luck may be on my side this time," he said.

This will be the first time the 50-year-old Choong is contesting a parliamentary seat.

He had contested the Seremban Jaya (previously known as Senawang) seat twice but lost.

Rasah will see a three-way fight between Pakatan's incumbent Cha Kee Chin, Barisan Nasional's Ng Kian Nam and Choong.

In GE14, Cha won the seat with a thumping 46,867-vote majority.

All five state seats under the Rasah parliamentary constituency are also Pakatan-controlled.

Choong said Perikatan would use social media to better reach voters.

"It rains almost every evening these days and it is difficult to personally meet up with voters. The best option is social media," he said, adding that the Perikatan team had been received warmly during door-to-door campaigning.

Choong said he had also accepted the challenge from Barisan Ng for a debate on Saturday (Nov 12).
