GE15: Barisan’s Isham in four-cornered fight for Shah Alam


With the nominations closed in Shah Alam it is a four-cornered fight between young candidates which are Azli Yusoff (Pakatan), Rafique Rashid (Pejuang), Isham Jalil (Barisan) and Dr Afif Bahardin (Perikatan).

SHAH ALAM: Four candidates below the age of 56 will be contesting the Shah Alam parliamentary seat for the 15th General Election (GE15).

Returning officer Asmah Mohd Zin announced at 10am Saturday (Nov 5) that nominations had closed here.

An hour later, she officially announced the four candidates who would contest for the Shah Alam parliamentary seat, when there were no objections received against any of them.

The candidates are Azli Yusof (Pakatan Harapan-Amanah), Rafique Rashid (GTA-Pejuang), Isham Jalil (Barisan Nasional-Umno) and Dr Afif Bahardin (Perikatan Nasional-PAS).

Azli was 55 years old, Rafique (45), Isham (46) and Afif was the youngest at 37.

When asked about his strategy for gaining the support of Shah Alam residents, Isham said there were a few issues that needed to be addressed such as floods and the economy.

The Umno supreme council member said he would focus on finding the cause of the problem and solving the issues in the area instead of pointing fingers.
