Shafie on warpath, blames Anwar for PH’s downfall

KOTA KINABALU: Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal went on the warpath as he named his party’s line-up for the elections, slamming Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and blaming him for the many things that went wrong with the Pakatan Harapan government.

“(Datuk Seri Dr) Wan Azizah (Wan Ismail) lost her post (as deputy prime minister), Lim Guan Eng lost his job (as Finance minister), and many others,” Shafie said, blaming it all on “greed and hunger for power”.

The Parti Warisan president said that in the last general election, the Opposition had worked together under the Pakatan banner to beat Barisan Nasional.

“Many overseas voters paid for flight tickets to return just to vote. There was a lot of hope but after the elections, there was no reform,” he said.

He said that when Anwar was in jail, Pakatan won but when he got out, Pakatan started losing.

He claimed that Pakatan under Anwar willingly sacrificed what they had just to get rid of former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“You could destroy a coalition just for your greed and sign a memorandum to support (Umno’s) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to become prime minister.

“Where is the clarity?” he said.

Shafie said Warisan was not crazy about the prime minister or deputy prime minister’s post, but wanted to get back state’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

He called on voters to reject candidates who only focused on their power and personal interests.
