Muafakat Nasional is an NGO, not a political party for now, says Annuar


PETALING JAYA: Hours after announcing that he had registered a "party" with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) named Muafakat Nasional (MN) back in 2019, Tan Sri Annuar Musa has clarified that it was actually a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

"Muafakat Nasional is not a political party for now. It is an NGO that has been officially registered.

"There is no issue of MN contesting in the election. Muafakat can be activated to carry out activities in accordance with its constitution," said the incumbent Ketereh MP on Facebook on Wednesday (Nov 2).

Annuar had made the announcement - that he had registered Muafakat with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on Sept 19, 2019 - after he was dropped from the Barisan Nasional list of candidates for GE15.

The office bearers' list showed Annuar as the president, Datuk Shahrul Nizam Yunos as the secretary and Wizanie Zerith Shah Putra Shahrul Nizam as the treasurer.

The other committee members include his political secretary Datuk Budiman Mohd Zohdi, his private secretary Datuk Mohamed Azam Ismail and his press secretary Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.
