GE15: Up to PAS to give Annuar a seat, says Kelantan Bersatu chairman

KOTA BARU: PAS should allocate one of their seats to Tan Sri Annuar Musa if they are keen on letting him contest under Perikatan Nasional's banner in Kelantan, says Datuk Kamarudin Md Nor.

The Bersatu Kelantan chairman told The Star that he didn't have any objections if Annuar was to be selected as a candidate but Bersatu had limited seats as it was in Kelantan compared to the nine seats currently allocated to PAS.

"If PAS wants to give it (the seat to Annuar), I don't have any objections as I am also close friends with Annuar.

"PAS should give him their seats. Bersatu doesn't have enough seats. We only have five," he said when responding to PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan's statement hinting that Annuar might be contesting under Perikatan's banner.

It was also improper, he said, to toy with Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor who was slated to be Perikatan's candidate in Ketereh who had already oiled his campaigning gears.

"We already made a commitment for Datuk Khlir so we should see it through," he said.

Annuar was among the seven big names that were dropped from the Barisan Nasional's list of candidates last night.

The others were Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique (Kota Tinggi), Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba (Tenggara), Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin (Padang Besar), and Datuk Mastura Mohd Yazid (Kuala Kangsar).

Another notable name that had been dropped was Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (Pasir Salak).

Meanwhile, Kelantan Perikatan election director Zulkifli Mamat said seat discussions would be among the "dewa-dewa" (top guns) however, adding that the machineries were ever ready to support all candidates.

"We don't discuss seat allocations.. (discussion) on the seats are up to the ‘dewa-dewa’.

"We are Gurkha soldiers. We will support all candidates, if they nominate Zahid (Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi), we will still continue to work," he said.

Attempts are being made to get comments from PAS leaders.
