KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) says it has received a report alleging there was misappropriation involved in an investment worth about RM1.11bil linked to a former senior minister.
The report was lodged by a coalition of several non-governmental organisations at about 2pm on Thursday (Feb 12).
The complainants claimed that a former senior minister and several ministry officials at the time were involved.
They claimed there were dubious negotiation and approval processes, which did not involve the relevant ministry and agencies such as the Finance Ministry and the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry.
The complainants also raised several issues that they said could give rise to perceptions of conflict of interest.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya said they would scrutinise the report in its entirety to determine whether if there are elements of corruption, misappropriation or abuse of power under the MACC Act 2009.
He said follow-up action would include reviewing documents and evidence submitted before an investigation is carried out, in line with the MACC's commitment to integrity and transparency.
