IPOH: Perikatan Nasional has sorted out all the state and parliamentary seats its component parties will be contesting for the 15th General Election, in Perak, unlike Pakatan Harapan that has two candidates for one state seat, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic).
The Perak Perikatan chairman, who is also Bersatu deputy president, said all was good among its component parties, although there were minor clashes at the federal level which had been sorted out.
“Today, Pakatan is fighting over the state seat allocation in Changkat Jong.
“In Pakatan they all think that they are great, some think they are superior, and some even think that they are God’s gift,” he said.
“How is it possible for them to even establish a stable government?
“I know what it was like during GE14 on the seat allocations working with them,” he told reporters after attending a health check programme at Dewan Azumu near here yesterday.
Both DAP and Amanah had announced their respective candidates for the Changkat Jong state seat on the same day.
Changkat Jong is one of the state seats under the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat.
On Friday morning, state Amanah chairman Datuk Asmuni Awi announced Muhaimin Sulam as the party’s candidate while DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said Badrul Hisham Badarudin would be the party’s candidate.
He announced this on the same night.
Both DAP and Amanah are part of Pakatan Harapan.
Ahmad Faizal, the incumbent Tambun MP, said Perikatan would divide the state seats equally among its component parties, but for the parliamentary seats in Perak, Bersatu would be contesting in more seats as compared to PAS and Gerakan.
“Candidates as a whole would be Perakians comprising of old and new faces, professionals, political activists, both males and females or various races.”
Asked if they were any heavyweights, Ahmad Faizal said in Perikatan they were all “normal people”.
