KEPALA BATAS: A total of 361 Form Six students and 30 matriculation students in several educational institutions in the Seberang Perai Utara area have benefitted from the Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) Student Device (PerantiSiswa) initiative.

Housing and Local Government Minister and Kepala Batas MP Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican (pic) said it is proof that no members of the Malaysian Family will be left behind regardless of their background.

"This high-quality Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 does not need to be returned and is the permanent property of the recipient, in line with the announcement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob On Sept 3,” he said, adding that he hoped this gesture would motivate the students to continue pursuing their studies and score excellent results.

He said this at the handing-over ceremony at Sekolah Menengah Agama Al-Irshad on Sunday (Oct 23).

The Communications and Multimedia Ministry is the lead agency for the implementation of the initiative which was announced during the tabling of Budget 2022, with cooperation from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Higher Education.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, said a total of 50,667 applications for PerantiSiswa have been approved for students who are pursuing studies at educational institutions in the northern states. - Bernama
