Najib’s SRC case review to be heard over three days next January

PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s review application in his RM42mil SRC International case has been fixed for a three-day hearing at the Federal Court beginning Jan 19 next year.

The dates – Jan 19, 20 and 26 – were set by Federal Court deputy registrars Wan Fatimah Zahara Wan Yussof and Siti Hajar Mustaffa in online case management yesterday.

The court also ordered parties to file their submissions by Jan 4 next year.

Lawyers Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee, Syafiqah Sofian, and Wan Arfan Wan Othman appeared for Najib in the proceedings.

Ad hoc prosecutor Datuk V. Sithambaram and deputy public prosecutor Mohd Ashrof Adrin Kamarul appeared for the Attorney General’s Chambers. The next case management has been fixed on Dec 2 at 3pm via Zoom.

On Aug 23, the Federal Court upheld the Kuala Lumpur High Court’s decision to convict Najib to 12 years in jail and for him to pay a RM210mil fine in the RM42mil SRC case. On Sept 6, he applied for a review of the Federal Court’s decision, claiming a “miscarriage of justice” in his case.
