Najib's bid for SRC conviction review to be heard from Jan 19


PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's review application in his RM42mil SRC International case has been fixed for a three-day hearing at the Federal Court from Jan 19.

The dates – Jan 19, 20 and 26 – were set by Federal Court deputy registrars Wan Fatimah Zahara Wan Yussof and Siti Hajar Mustaffa in an online case management here on Friday (Oct 21).

The court also ordered parties to file their submissions by Jan 4.

Lawyers Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee, Syafiqah Sofian and Wan Arfan Wan Othman appeared for Najib in the proceedings.

Meanwhile, ad hoc prosecutor Datuk V. Sithambaram and DPP Mohd Ashrof Adrin Kamarul appeared for the Attorney General’s Chambers.

The next case management has been fixed for 3pm on Dec 2 via Zoom.

On Aug 23, the Federal Court upheld the Kuala Lumpur High Court's decision to convict Najib and sentence him to 12 years’ jail and a fine of RM210mil in the case.

On Sept 6, he filed an application for a review of the Federal Court's decision, claiming a "miscarriage of justice".

Najib is currently serving his sentence at Kajang Prison.
