Barisan and Umno supreme councils to discuss GE15

PETALING JAYA: The Barisan Nasional and Umno supreme councils are set to meet to focus on the 15th General Election.

Informed sources said the Umno meet would take place today, with Barisan to hold its session tomorrow.

“The main agenda is the 15th General Election ... definitely,” said a well-placed source.

Another source confirmed that the Barisan supreme council would also discuss matters related to Parliament’s impending dissolution.

The meetings come amid speculation that Parliament may be dissolved anytime soon to pave the way for the general election.

The current Dewan Rakyat meeting which began on Oct 3, is slated to end on Nov 29.

The earlier speculation that Parliament would be dissolved before Budget 2023 was unveiled last Friday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong last Thursday.

However, Istana Negara issued a statement later that evening to state that the meeting was the regular weekly one the Prime Minister had with the King.
